New security cameras to quell city violence

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Tuesday a list of about 70 security cameras — some of them more than 25 years old — to be installed at major New York City bus stops.

There are about 800 cameras across New York City, with some installed at high schools and a few dozen at subway stations. That means it would take fewer than three days for the new cameras to catch the attacks.

“Our commitment to preventing attacks is as strong as ever and we continue to ensure that all New Yorkers have confidence that there will be no more attacks on our city,” de Blasio said in a statement.

But some activists and advocates say the new cameras already exist. At the end of July, the nonprofit Everytown for Gun Safety called on the mayor to add additional cameras to buses at the four busiest subway stations and near subway trains and underground stations. That proposal has since been dropped.

“The system you’re going to build is a huge step forward,” said Alex DeMuth, who is in the middle of launching a movement to push for New York City to have a national database of gun violence. “But it will take time.”

The New York City Police Department does not say how many cameras would be installed but it is expected to increase the number of officers and have them on patrol on a regular basis, police said.

The Mayor has said that his administration would like to put the cameras “all over” the city. He also wants the police department to have enough video 마카오 소액 카지노to conduct a daily database of gun violence crime.

“It’s been a good first step because we know that in the wake of the tragedy, it will take a lot of time, a lot of resources넷마블 바카라 머니 상, and we believe that we’re getting it right now,” de Blasio said.

In June, de Blasio and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg had announced an effort to put 3,000 more cameras across the city as part of what became known as the NYPD’s “zero tolerance” strategy. One of those cameras was installed at the Midtown stop of the city’s subway system last month. The cameras capture the incident, but there has never been any arrests connected to it in a case that has been publicized.

The camera is located just after the exit from a crowded station, near the front entrance of the train.

Police Commissioner William Bratton said that the cameras would give riders the option of calling law enforcement, giving them an option to turn their cam바카라 양방 배팅eras off, or giving them the optio
