Introduction
The Tattykeel Meat Sheep studs were initially established by John and Mavis Gilmore in 1959 with a Dorset Horn stud. Over the ensuing 60 years and three generations, the team at Tattykeel have been producing meat sheep of outstanding quality. Tattykeel has not only not only been a leading competitor in the show ring in Australia and Overseas, but more importantly has supplied such a high quality of seed stock to commercial prime lamb operators, that producers have sought out lambs by Tattykeel Poll Dorset sires. The team at Tattykeel are also responsible for the development of the Australian White sheep breed on their properties in Oberon. The Australian White is rapidly gaining popularity in Australia and Overseas because of it’s hair coat, early maturity, easy maintenance and outstanding meat quality.
